Water Main Relay Program (WMR) has been proposed by SA Water Asset Management in accordance with the annual process of selecting priority mains for relay. The number of customers affected due to pipe bursting and water supply interruption together with repair costs of old assets have determined the priority list of WMR program.
All projects covered by this Program have shared a common objective of relaying a set length of water main along a designated route. The pipe diameter, pipe material, length of relay, number of connections and number of fire plugs have been specified to each relay project and have been designed according to the specific requirements of each project.
WMR Program has had a large group of stakeholders in excess of 25 individuals.
Under 2013/14 Program of work, 24km of water mains have been renewed within approximately 60 projects.
